Add to that recovering from trauma without the help of a professional and being unable to find a job and you feel hopeless. 65% of women who are homeless have children with them and will fight to care for their children over themselves.

At Dream Centers we believe all people are created in God’s image and make this truth tangible for women and children.
Women who come to Dream Centers have often been raised in poverty, experienced traumatic events, and only know how to survive. Our intensive holistic program empowers women to thrive as they develop skills to become independent. From trauma recovery and safe housing to degree programs and job placement, Dream Centers gives women a path to a life they have only imagined.
Single mother families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population and single moms who become homeless lack a support system and don’t have a safe home to return to. At Dream Centers we believe all people are created in God’s image and make this truth tangible for women and children.

Mary’s Home
Poverty is not only a condition of the body, but of the soul. At Mary’s Home we provide training to help women reach financial independence. More than that, we provide a trauma-informed space and counseling for women and children to heal while caring for their basic needs — shelter, food, water and safety. When the state cares for a family who is homeless the cost is around $171,000 a year. At Mary’s Home it costs just $36,000 a year to provide quality care to the same family.

Susie had a childhood most of us couldn’t fathom.
Her parents were afraid of the government so they lived in tents in the woods and never sent their kids to school or took them for medical care. Susie’s parents claimed they were homeschooling their children, but no studying was happening. Her upbringing left Susie without a GED and basic life skills. As an adult, Susie found herself pregnant and unsure how to care for her child. With no education or skills, she had nowhere to turn. That’s when Susie found Dream Centers. She is intelligent and hardworking. Due to her lack of education her GED program took longer than most, almost 24 months! But she never gave up and knew this was what she needed to do for herself and her children.
Just recently she took all 4 pre-tests and passed 3 out of the 4 with flying colors! She is getting tutoring for her worst subject and can’t wait to take the actual tests, and pass. Susie’s story is an extreme example of the pasts women who find Dream Centers have lived. The common thread of almost all the stories we hear is a hard past with no positive role models to follow. We can’t undo the past, but we can make futures full of dreams for women with painful backgrounds like Susie’s.
“This has been one of the sweetest, most treasured serving opportunities I have ever had. The services that the clinic provides cuts cost on our city and state by reducing the volume of ER visits uninsured or underinsured patients would make. But, it goes so much farther and deeper than that! I have seen women come in lost, scared, feeling alone, and confused; only to leave with a new sense of self, purpose and love.”
